In the vast world of EverQuest II, mercenaries have become an integral part of every player's arsenal. With their unique abilities and strengths, they can greatly enhance your gaming experience. For a long time, my Berserker has used the obese ogre Zhugrus Blightstrike, introduced in the 2016 update The Scourge of Zek. I've been more than happy with the handful of mercenaries I've picked up from events and holidays. Over the years, I've learned that some can be found and hired in-game, while others only feature as perks in higher-priced Collectors editions.

As an EQII player, you're probably familiar with the concept of tokens. These tokens started dropping with the introduction of the first season Overseer missions, although mercenaries and their tokens may have been in the game already. I recently deleted a bunch of Grollas only yesterday, but that's beside the point. You can store as many of the same Lore item as you like in the Guild bank, which is why my Guild vault tab is filled with Blood of Luclin Mercenary claim tokens.

One interesting aspect of EQII's mercenary system is that it allows for storing Lore items, which are tagged as characters being able to only own one. Since I've been the only active member of my guild for over five years, it's essentially become an extension of my own bank. While sorting bags and keeping everyone's upgrade plates spinning yesterday, I stumbled upon the Guild Bank and took a moment to appreciate its utility.
